As we have built up an excellent reputation for ‘problem-solving’ we find
that at any one time we have a number of children with individual needs. We
have experience of autism, tactile problems, behavioural problems,
dyspraxia, epilepsy and many more. We aim to fully include all children and
work towards including every child into a small group. Our success comes
from working as a team and combining our efforts with the parents and carers
towards that which is appropriate for your child.
We have built up very good links with outside agencies, and have links with
physiotherapists, speech and occupational therapists. We also have visits
from an early years consultant who is also very supportive to ourselves and
parents alike. This has proved extremely useful for advice about our methods
in handling certain problems and we view this as an invaluable source of
information.
Our settings have a Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator, and Individual Educational
Plans are up-dated each half term. A child’s key-person regularly reviews
their progress with the SENCO.
We follow the Code of Practice on the Identification and Assessment of
Special Needs and our special needs adviser co-ordinates all aspects of a
child’s development with the necessary specialists. A separate policy is
available for interested parents.
